Power loading is the act of using the boat's motor to aid loading or unloading your boat at our boat launch. Since February, 2022, doing so is a violation of a Burnett County ordinance and is subject to a fine. Read more here.

You're invited to Polk County and Partners Zebra Mussel Forum on February 2nd. This is a virtual event that will begin at 9 am and end around 3-3:30 pm, but if planning to attend feel free to come and go for different talks! Although Burnett County has been very lucky with having only two lakes detected with Zebra Mussels, this invasive species is still moving around in surrounding counties and the St. Croix River. I highly encourage you all to attend and learn more about what other local lake associations in the Northwest Area are doing to prevent, contain and live with zebra mussel infestations. Burnett County has two lake association representatives speaking at this event including Bob Baker from Lipsett Lake and Sandy Swanson from the McKenzie Lakes! Feel free to pass along to your members!
Please RSVP to Colton Sorensen if you'd like to attend Thanks and hope to see you there! BACKGROUND Information about the program was provided in the spring Lakelines of 2018. The visibility of the sign and availability of cleaning tools and solution is another bold awareness tool...this time with a clear function. OUR RESPONSIBILITIES The lake has had to pay for the lumber to install the station, but is also committed in perpetuity to replace all the tools, safety eyewear, sprayer and solution. It's a financial commitment, and a participation commitment. Ultimately, we MUST keep the station in good working order or we will be forced to remove this very important deterrent to the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.. |
WHAT YOU CAN DO
We need all of us members to be aware of the lake's responsibility here. If you or your family or guests are at the landing, please check in on the condition of all the materials and solution. Please communicate.
Please consider whether you can participate more financially or as a volunteer for the lake to keep this station in good working order and full of supplies. We do need someone EVERY DAY of the summer to check on this station. While we already have a couple folks raising their hand, it's fair to share the burden more widely. Please contact the board if you think you can help.
RESOURCES
If you have any questions about the program, the board will likely be able to help, though additional context can always be obtained directly from county resources:

Greetings everybody.
As a part of our fiduciary responsibility to you, our members, we're taking a step forward to enhance our tools for managing the expenses and resources of the organization. This work will make it easier for us to stay on top of our various tax filings as well, and will ensure that we keep our 501c3 status in good standing.
Part of setting up these new tools and workflows involves the implementation of a comprehensive and straightforward chart of accounts that takes into consideration the present and future needs of our charitable organization.
We're setting it all up in our Quickbooks Online account, and could use the insights of a skilled bookkeeper or CPA to review our simple plan and give it a thumbs up. If you are someone (or know someone) who could help us out with this insight, it would be greatly appreciated.
Contact any of us on the board to raise your hand.
Thanks!
